CHOU CHOU
Chou Chou is a personal picture book project based on the true story of my dog and me.
It tells the story of how we met in 2008, when Chou Chou was a young street dog and I was still in middle school. From that moment on, we became two of the most important companions in each other’s lives. He stayed with me through college, studying abroad, the beginning of my career, and my journey as a freelance illustrator.
Even now, as I look at these pages and then at 19-year-old Chou Chou sleeping beside me, I still feel deep happiness and gratitude.
I later created a book trailer for this project, which received a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. The project was also selected for several book exhibitions and opened many doors for future picture book collaborations. I am truly grateful for everything this story has brought into my life.
